Description

The Banski Dvor is one of the oldest sights of the city of Banja Luka. It is located in the city center across from the building of the Banship or today's municipal building. In 1929, Banja Luka became the capital of the then Vrbas Banovina. As a Banovina manager, Ban Svetislav Tisa Milosavljevic, who built the largest and most beautiful landmarks of the city. The Dvor was built in the period from 1931 to 1932. As a residence of Ban, it was used until 1941 and consisted of halls for musical and theater performances, sessions and reception hall, apartment for bana, guest apartments and the like.
During World War II, the Banski Dvor was significantly damaged and was later used as a military and political headquarters. Only in 1955, the city authorities were given a court on the managed House of Culture and in 1998 became the cultural center of the Banski Dvor.
Today, numerous cultural and musical events, performances, exhibitions and other events are held here.
